Prof. Kamal
Henri Khayat from Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri
S&T) visited the Department of Civil Engineering, Tsinghua University on
May 15, 2018. Prof. Khayat is Fellow of ACI and RILEM. He serves as director of
the Center for Infrastructure Engineering Studies at Missouri S&T and
director of the Tier-1 University Transportation Center for Research on
Concrete Applications for Sustainable Transportation. He is the recipient of some
ACI Medals and Awards.
Prof. Khayat
gave a comprehensive presentation titled “Recent Advances in Pumping of High
Perance Concrete”. In his presentation, Prof. Khayat represented the
state-of-the-art research of the measuring method of lubrication layer in
pumping pipe, prediction method of pumping pressure and applicability of the
analytical models.
After the
presentation, Prof. Khayat had a further discussion with the attendance on the
rheology and pumpability of High perance concrete and visited the
laboratory of Building Materials.
Dr. Khayat is
a chair professor of Missouri S&T, meanwhile, Prof. Khayat is an adjunct
professor of Hunan University. His research efforts and professional services
have been recognized with several honors and awards. Prof. Khayat has authored
and co-authored over 200 publications and advised 20 Ph.D. students, 45 Masters
students, as well as 15 post-doctoral fellows and visiting scholars. He has
been featured as keynote speaker at several International Symposia. Some of his
more note-worthy awards have come from CANMET/ACI, ASTM Sanford Thompson,
Concrete Producer Magazine, the Quebec Concrete Association, The Ministry of
Municipal Affaires of Quebec, ASCE, and the US Army Corps of Engineers. He was
elected fellow of ACI in 2004.
