Supported by the short-term exchange and cooperation projects of well-known overseas scholars of Tsinghua University, Dr. Dawei Wang, professor of RWTH Aachen University and Harbin Institute of Technology, came to the Department of Civil Engineering, Tsinghua University on November 19, 2018. During one-week visiting, he made a series of academic lectures themed of “Functional Pavement in Germany: Materials, Structures and Perance”, including three presentations titled “PU-bonded Permeable Pavement for Sponge City”, “Carpet Pavement and Smart Road” and “Evaluation of Long-term Skid Resistance of Road Surface Based on the Tire-road Contact Model” respectively. More than 30 teachers and students have participated the three academic lectures.

In the first presentation, Prof. Wang introduced and discussed the key technology research on permeable pavement of sponge city, based on self-developed new polymer composite permeable paving materials. And in the second presentation, Prof. Wang introduced the German carpet pavement and intelligent pavement and explored the value of using them in new functional pavement. In the final presentation, he introduced the evaluation of long-term anti-sliding property based on tire-pavement coupling model.

After each presentation, Prof. Dawei Wang had further discussions with the audiences.

These academic lectures given by Prof. Dawei Wang have shown state-of-the-art technologies about materials, structures and functionalities of pavement engineering. And the audiences also learned a lot about the blueprint of development in the field of pavement engineering.
