Department of Construction Management was established in April 2000. Its origin can be traced back to the teaching and Research Group of Construction Technology and Machinery established in the Department of Civil Engineering of Tsinghua University in 1953. Currently the department consists of four teaching and research institutes, namely, Institute of Construction and Engineering Management, Institute of Real Estate Studies, Institute of Sustainable Urbanization and Institute of Project Management and Construction Technology, and several joint research and training centers including Institute of International Engineering Project Management, Construction Safety Research Center (Tsinghua-Gammon), Tsinghua Hang Lung Center for Real Estate, Surety Bonds Research Center, Center for Urbanization and Industrial Development, IIEPM Training Center, and Institute for Future Cities and Infrastructures.
